Sally Hardy

Sally is a playwright, author, theatre maker and has been writing professionally for 15 years. Her plays, predominantly for children and young adults, have played in theatres and schools throughout Adelaide and Victoria, including the Adelaide and Melbourne Fringe festivals. Recently Sally won the Trinity College of London International Playwriting Award for teenage audiences with her play Gone Viral, which was published and produced in London in May 2014.

In 2006 her play Fallen Sky was included on the VCE playlist, and in 2004 her first feature film screenplay was nominated for the Monte Miller Award by the Australian Writers Guild. Sally’s production company Free Range Theatrix has been entertaining young audiences since 2010, including a successful season at the 2014 Fringe with her musical comedy Hip Hop Hook & The Fairy Dust Fiasco.

Sally has been helping young people to learn through performance for nearly 10 years, as a teaching Artist in schools, through her own creative play educational programmes at Preschools and Kindergartens, as a teacher, writer and performance director at Theatre Bugs from 20052010, and most recently as senior tutor at True North Youth Theatre Ensemble.

Teddy-grams For Campbell is Sally’s first children’s book, and she feels privileged beyond measure to have been asked to capture the spirit of the Pembroke Bears in story form...the experience has been nothing short of magical.
