A place to compete, a place to perform, a place to reflect, a place to celebrate – join us in writing the next chapter of our School’s story.

Close to a century ago, a landmark moment in our history occurred when our co-founding School King’s College purchased a parcel of land across the road. Acquired under a bold vision, this humble paddock was destined for great things – a field of dreams for generations of families to come. Today, we know this parcel, this paddock, this place as Haslam Oval.

Named in honour of the inaugural Headmaster of King’s, Haslam Oval is as much about our shared past as it is about our shared future. And just like our founders, we also hold a bold vision for Haslam – a vision to cultivate a place that unites our community like never before.

Our vision for Haslam includes:

  • A world-class multifunctional centre featuring 2,100 seats, three basketball courts, a gymnasium with strength and conditioning facilities and a dance studio
  • A variety of agile teaching, learning and gathering areas custom-designed to serve the School’s broad curriculum
  • Stunning event spaces including one overlooking Haslam Oval where our old scholars will be able to gather and reminisce over memorabilia displays
  • A full AFL oval, new tennis and netball courts, hockey and soccer artificial turf practice pitches and leading-edge athletics facilities

Pembroke Principal Mark Staker says the project will be transformational for the School community.

‘This will be a place where students can embrace a wide range of sports – from football, tennis and soccer, to basketball, volleyball, badminton and so much more,’ he said. ‘It will also be a place where we can come together as a community – assembled under the one roof, for the very first time in the School’s history. Significant performances, ceremonies and student milestones will be held and celebrated here.’

While our vision focuses on the health and wellbeing of current and future students, it also pays homage to Pembroke’s treasured past.

‘Our School’s founders and Girton, King’s and Pembroke old scholars will be honoured with a gallery befitting of their enormous contributions to the School in shaping the Pembroke we know and love today.’
