Did you know that a large percentage of the staff at Pembroke are old scholars?

11 April 2024

It’s such a privilege to have our old scholars go out into the world and return to share their expertise and experience with our community. We wanted to introduce you to a few old scholars who work at Pembroke.

Alice Duddy (2014)

What is your role at Pembroke?

I teach English from Years 7-11. This past term I have also been acting as the Coordinator of CAS for the IB in the Senior School.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

The opportunity to connect with the students across the Middle and Senior Schools.

What is your favourite memory from your time at School?

That is a tough question! It's hard to narrow it down to just one. Memories of Year 7 afternoon activities, sailing on the Coorong during Year 10 Camp, and the excitement of Pet Show Day all come to mind. However, a standout memory for me is the Year 11 Drama production of 2013, 'Doro Kara,' which was a self-devised piece inspired by Butoh and physical theatre. The title, meaning 'From Mud' in Japanese, was fitting as we had moved several tonnes of dirt into Wright Hall for the performance.

Lawrence Pascale (1998)

What is your role at Pembroke?

Assistant Head of Senior School/Mathematics Teacher.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Having the opportunity to help students and staff in the Senior School when they need support.

What is your favourite memory from your time at School?

The Year 12 Drama Trip to Bali, followed closely by sailing on the Failie and One & All ships in Years 9, 10 and 11.

Theodora Stamos (2003)

What is your role at Pembroke?

Policy & Compliance Coordinator.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Collaborating with staff from every area of the school. Every day brings something different, and I’m constantly learning new things. I’ve found myself a quasi-expert on a variety of areas I would have never otherwise encountered, and I can see how my work supports the aims of the School.

What is your favourite memory from your time at School?

Because I attended from Reception to Year 12 there are too many wonderful memories to choose just one favourite. Each year level has its own special moments of connection with peers, celebrating achievements and feelings of inspiration. Now becoming a staff member has been very exciting and I’m quietly certain more favourite memories are yet to be created.
