Pembroke School offers a range of scholarships and bursaries including academic, music and boarding and in each case engages in a thorough process to award scholarships based on the merit of the application.

2019 Years 7 and 8 Academic Scholarships

Pembroke offers scholarships for students entering Years 7 and 8 based entirely on results of the ACEP examinations held in February each year. Students sit for this examination in the year preceding entry to Years 7 or 8 at Pembroke. It is open to both students already enrolled at Pembroke and students wanting to attend Pembroke. Students studying on a student visa (500) are eligible to apply but the percentage of remission will be based on the tuition fee payable by an Australian student.

Value:  25% up to 100% remission of tuition fees for the duration of the enrolment
(provided academic work remains of a high standard)

2019 Music Scholarships

Pembroke School offers a limited number of scholarships to students entering Years 7 to 11. Applications are invited from students who are able to display established excellence, or significant promise, in Music.

Value: 10% to 75% remission of tuition fees for the duration of the enrolment
(subject to satisfactory progress)

2019 Boarding Scholarships

Scholarships are available for boarders entering Years 7 to 11. Selection is based upon the submission of a personal portfolio and an interview. The criteria for selection includes as a high priority the potential "all round" contribution that a student will make to the School.

Value: 50% remission of tuition fees for the duration of the enrolment

2019 Isolated Students' Scholarships

Scholarships are also available for boarders entering Years 7 to 10 and who meet specific geographical isolation criteria. Selection is based on the submission of an application and an interview.

2019 Isolated Students' Bursary

Boarding Students entering Years 7 to 10 who meet specific geographical isolation criteria may be eligible to apply for an Isolated Student Bursary.

2018 Margaret Sellars Scholarships

Scholarships are available periodically for a boarding student from rural and outback farming communities and entering Years 10, 11 or 12.

Value:  Up to 100% remission of tuition fees for either 1, 2 or 3 years (while boarding at Pembroke)

The Indigenous Youth Leadership Project

The Indigenous Youth Leadership Project (IYLP) offers scholarships and leadership opportunities to young Indigenous Australians, with a focus on Indigenous youth from remote or regional communities. Working in partnership with Pembroke School, the IYLP is run by The Smith Family, with funding support through the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.

In addition to helping Indigenous students achieve their educational aspirations, the IYLP supports the development of positive role models and leaders to inspire other Indigenous students.

2019 IYLP Scholarships

Registration of Interest

  • The Smith Family in conjunction with Pembroke School, invites registrations of interest from students interested in IYLP Scholarship and boarding positions in 2019.
  • Places are open to students entering Years 8-12 in 2019.

Application Process

  • Applications will open in 2018 (date to be advised) and are to be sent directly to The Smith Family where they will be short-listed for further consideration.
  • Shortlisted students will be required to attend a personal interview at Pembroke School with the IYLP Manager and Pembroke School Indigenous Student Coordinator.

2019 The James and Diana Ramsay Foundation Scholarship

The James and Diana Ramsay Foundation Scholarship (JDRFS) has been made available specifically for low income families who aspire to an excellent education but are not able to fund an Independent School education for their child due to disadvantage. The scholarship is open to Day or Boarding students.
