The proposed French Immersion Program will follow the Content and Language Integrated Learning model. A minimum of 2 lessons per day will be delivered in French as the language of instruction.
Within the program, it is proposed that the subjects delivered in the French language will be:
- French Language and Literature (Years 7 to 10)
- History and Geography (Years 7 to 10)
- Art and Drama (Year 7 only)
These subjects, taught entirely in French, will adhere to the Australian National Curriculum as well as drawing on resources from the French National Curriculum.
The program will be suitable for students who have some prior background in the French language, either having some experience learning/speaking French as a second language or having French as a first language. The program will be carefully calibrated for individual students, depending on their level of background knowledge.
Students who are new to the French language may be considered for this program on a case-by-case basis and are invited to contact the School to express their interest. Alternatively these students can select French as a subject in the mainstream Middle School curriculum program.
The French Immersion Program will launch in 2023, dependent on student interest.
We are currently seeking expressions of interest from students/parents interested in finding out more about the Program. By completing the expression of interest form below, we will provide you more information about the Program.
Please note that an expression of interest in the French Immersion Program does not equate to an application for admission to Pembroke School. If a child is not already on the waitlist for admission to Pembroke School, an Application for Admission must be completed.
An expression of interest in the French Immersion Program also does not guarantee admission to Pembroke School, as offers of enrolment will be made strictly in accordance with the School’s Admissions Policy.
